Still raining!

Where is our Summer??

Sirdar have brought out Luxury soft cotton 4ply in a lovely range of colours and a good supporting pattern range. 4 ply knitting is not very popular but it is worth the effort, I tend to have a few projects on the go and one of them is usually 4ply so I can have a bit of variety and don't get bored with it!

Bit of summer!

When is this rain going to stop!!
Wimbledon has been disrupted badly and I brought my telly in to work with me especially to watch it - in between customers!

A pattern that has sold well over the last couple of weeks is Sirdar 8851 a Bolero knitted in Sirdar Silky Look DK, a lovely yarn that gives a look of silk and has a lovely drape when knitted there is a good colour range available too!.

Another wet day!

Another Wet day here in Wales, getting a bit fed up of it now - at least we havent had it as bad as up North!

Quite busy in shop today lots of babies expected Sirdar Snuggly has sold well today!

A sale of Wendy Pampas to a lady getting ready for winter - she was spoilt for choice with the 'prints' so she decided to start with Autumnal Moor and then knit the other colours too! She chose a lovely short jacket pattern 5316!

My wool shack

Well here goes! This is all new to me and a bit scary but I have been advised to start blogging!!

I learnt to knit when I was quite young and by the time I was 15 I was knitting all sorts - I had more jumpers than I could wear! I knitted constantly when I was pregnant with my daughter (she's 23 now) by the time she was born I had a fairly impressive stock of matinee coats etc. I love knitting Aran and I think my Dad still has a jumper that I made for him about 20 years ago! I look back at old photographs now and many of the jumpers & cardigans we wore were made by me, I even got my husband to wear a few - I laugh at some of the fashions!

One by one the wool shops in Newport closed down and it became quite difficult to buy yarn and I stopped knitting for a few years, then 2 years ago after visiting yet another wool shop on one of our holidays my husband said 'why don't you just open your own' so I did!!
My shop 'The Wool Shack' in Newport, South Wales has been open since February 2006 and is going from strength to strength, most days I have a new customer come in and say how lovely it is to find a wool shop! Knitting really is making a come back!
Through the summer months last year I decided to stock baby clothes etc to see me through the quiet times and that proved to be a good move with the mix of both I now have quite a good little business running and I love it!
I stock most of the yarns on the market but have found that a lot of people are not prepared to pay the price of some of the more expensive yarns so I do often order in specially for some of my customers.
At the beginning of this year my web site finally went live after 18 months 'in the making' I had quite a few set backs but with the help of my wonderful 'web' man Dale I now have quite an impressive online store too - check it out www.mywoolshack.co.uk
Anyway that's a bit about me - I shall 'blog' more next time!
Thanks for visiting
